The time has come for foster mom, Dawn, to stop dragging her feet and get these beauties a new home. They have been so good and loving, she did not want to do a bio because she is in no hurry to adopt them out, and these girls are so perfect they will be outstanding new family members for the right home. Heidi and Gretchen came into rescue from a good home that just did not have the time to take care of them anymore when their mom started a new job in a new state. The girls were living with friends of their mom while she was away from home, but they did not have consistency, sometimes staying in the yard all day, and they were not sure what was happening to them. Their mom loved them, but wanted them to have a better life, so, they asked Southern California Dachshund Relief Inc (rescue) to find a new loving home for them. Gretchen is a beautiful little female. She has such soulful eyes that love to look back at you, while her little tail wags enthusiastically each and every time she sees you. She is very compact and she can run faster than any Dachshund we have ever seen. She rarely sits or stands still, thus we are not able to capture her beauty with an everyday camera, but we have done our best! Gretchen is inquisitive, instinctive and determined to get what she wants, when she wants it. She demands lap time from her foster mom, and she manages to sneak her way up onto a waiting lap, then snuggling in for a little nap. She loves to kiss you, and if your legs and feet need a good washing, she is there to assist. Heidi is an adorable little red girl, starting to get some gray in her face. She is so sweet and has such a big heart. She is very loving, wants to give kisses freely and often, and can sneak in a lick faster than you can turn your head away. Heidi will quietly find a little place to take a nap and she loves to burrow under a blanket. In the morning, she will ignore the commotion of the other foster siblings getting up and running and barking to start their day. Heidi will burrow a bit deeper under the covers and she hopes you will forget about her all day! She is also inquisitive and is learning how to play with other fosters, but she is most happy just being Heidi. She and Gretchen enjoy snooping in the yard, and sunning themselves while watching the birds and squirrels play in the trees. They don?t seem to mind just watching the fosters try to capture one of those wild creatures.
Heidi and Gretchen are very bonded. Wherever either of them goes, the other is right behind. We will not separate them as they should be able to enjoy life as they have known it, together. They eat together, sleep together, play together, and enjoy sharing everything together. These two love going on walks and are very good. They are house trained and use the doggie door reliably. When it is time for bed, they cuddle with each other in their crate and don?t seem to mind being locked in for the night, but there is no doubt that they, like any dachshund, would love to share the ?big bed? with their new owner and family. They are eager and happy to greet anyone that comes into the house and would make a wonderful addition to some lucky family. They are safe with children of all ages as they grew up with young children over 5 years. Heidi and Gretchen are healthy, fully vaccinated and microchipped. They are crate trained and often go into their crate to nap or enjoy a treat/toy. They would be happy to share their new home with another dachshund, but they would be even happier being the center of attention. If you can give these sweet girls a good home together, please contact Dawn at
